Crankbait rod

Featured Replies

What size would be good for an all around crankbait rod, from wake baits to DD22's.

Thanks

I like a 7 foot meduim rod for my crankbaits.

I use a 7' Kistler Magnesium TS "Alton Jones Crankbait Special" M/MF, but I don't throw any deep-diving cranks. I stick to lipless and shallow cranks.

Alright well its between a 6'9", 7', and 7'2" all medium action with moderate power.

I love my Bass Pro Crankin Stick in 7' M/F for trebles. I have a Bass Pro Tournament(limited edition) series reel on it with 12lb mono.

The BPS crankin sticks are sweet!!! I love the one Im using!

7' med-hvy moderate st. croix avid. love it!

Got 2 of them and they do the job.

I've been very pleased with my BPS Crankin Sticks, look for an occasional sale when they are down to $50 if you can wait. If you wanted a good all around model you will do well with the 7' M action.

I want to try a carrot stick so I am probably going to get a cranking carrot stick and pair it up with a Energy PT, the whole setup will be just about as light as my old Tour Edition PT lol

kms399's 7' mh/m avid and the loomis mh/m (cbr845) are both excellent all-around cranking sticks...they fish very much the same.

that said, you may have to bump it up to a h/m for the dd-22's and fat-free shad type cranks...you can do it with a good mh/m but, imo, these heavier baits load much better on the h/m than the lesser powers.

in my hands, a m/m will handle the lighter, shallower baits but, begins to suffer once you get into the flat cb d20, dd-22 type of bait.

ymmv.
