Advantage with short rod?

Featured Replies

Im going to be buying some more rods this season and was wondering what lenght of rods I should get. Does it just depend on what baits and presentations im using?

A longer rod for moving fish faster or longer casts.  A shorter rod for better control and more casting acuracy.

I dont use anything below a 6'6" because it feels like im using like a trout pole or something ::)

agreed... the only time i miss having a shorter rod is when i'm waist deep in a small river fishing for smallies

short rods are better for skipping baits.

i like shorter rods when im in a canoe as well.
