Flipping Switch

Featured Replies

This is a neat little feature that is on my kvd baitcasting reel, but i'm not sure how to use it exactly. I mean i know i flip the switch and the bail automatically engages, but like in terms of using it. Do you guys like this feature/ use it a lot. Let me know what you think.

Thanks!

I have one with the feature but rarely use it. To me it would come in handy more when pitching lures rather than flippin. You can control everything with one hand until you are ready to reel in. It's a lazy feature to me, LOL!

My older Abus have it, have used it maybe 20 times in about 25 years.

With the flipping switch on, when you throw the bait out with your thumb depressed, as soon as you let up on the thumb bar, the reel locks.  I have an older Johnnie Morris with one and never use it, just my thumb to control the spool.
