Difference btwn St. Croix AVC and AC rods

Featured Replies

Just wondering what the difference was? Is the AC and older model? If so, did they make any changes to the rod? Thanks

I believe the AC is the model before they developed the ART technology.  Other than that I think they are the same.  If you go on ST. Croixs website it explains what the ART is.

The AC models are the older ones without the IPC technology. The AVC models have IPC but that is the only difference.

Also add a few bucks and a glossy finish to the AVC models compared to the AC models, and I'd say you're spot on. :)

My next question, is it worth it? Anybody fished each of these care to comment? I ask because I am in the market for a 6'6 MF all around rod and I am looking at the avids. It seems you can get an AC used for a pretty good price on the net.

my mistake IPC not ART the ART is on the LT models and up.

I have a both the ac in a casting rod and the avc in a spinning rod and I can't tell the difference

The AC I have is the 66mf casting and I love it.  It can do just about anything you ask, within reason of course.  It is a great all-around rod.  If you keep you eyes out you should be able to find 1 for around $90-$120.
