What tip action is preferred for fishing frogs(ex. horny toads) and buzzbaits? Also, would you use a different rod for throwing spooks, poppers, and prop baits? Thanks

I would use a fast. An XF wouldn't let the fish take the bait as much as a F.

I would probably want a rod with more backbone for frogs and buzzbaits because I fish them in thick cover. Spooks, poppers, and props are more open water baits so you don't need as much backbone to haul fish out of cover.

I would go with a 7' mh fast action for buzz baits and frogs. But if you are fishing the heavy stuff I would go even stronger.

For spooks I would go with a 7' m fast.

For poppers I use a 6'6" m fast.

I use a 7' MH-Fast rod for frogs and toads. I use a 6'9" MH-Mod. Fast for spooks, poppers,etc., which are treble-hook, open-water type lures. I like a moderate fast action for all treble hook lures (including crankbaits, jerkbaits, etc).

Yep, that is what I would use. No, I wouldn't use a moderate action for frogs and buzzbaits.

As Tin said, you may want to go to a heavy rod if you fish thick slop with your frogs.

I use two completely different rods for frogs and buzzbaits. For buzzbaits I actually use a cranking rod with a decent amount of backbone.  I use the 7' MH Team Diawa S Series (greenhandle) spinnerbait/crankbait rod. It works well for me because it has a good amount of backbone once the rod is loaded but it has a very slow taper which allows the fish to get the bait better and it helps eliminate the "duhuh" factor when you jerk to soon.  JMHO

I would use a 7' rod for trebles as well. Medium power with a fast tip.

I agree. I use a 7'0" MH mod. casting rod w/parabloic bend for treble hooked baits.
