Which Line Type and Size for Fishing Lipped Crankbaits?

Featured Replies

What do you guys perfer for fishing lipped crankbaits?  Most crankbaits I will be fishing will be DD22's.  I was using flourocarbon and I always thought that it helped the crankbait get deeper but now I am thinking monofilament because of it's stretch it will help me from ripping the crankbait out of the fishes mouth.  Also if you could reccomend line poundage that would be super!

For as DD22 I would use a 10-12 lb mono, IMHO

i'd say stick with the flouro to get your depth but use a moderate-slow action rod. i use 15 lb trilene 100%

I use 10-12lb P-line either CXX or Flouro-clear

I would go with 6 - 10 pound test on spinning gear for cranks that are 1/4 of an ounce or under, unless you are fishing heavy cover with shallow running cranks. Deep divers I go with 10 - 12 pound test and casting gear.

I use 12# Trilene XL on a medium-fast rod.
