Featured Replies

this year i will have 4 bass fishing rigs

6'8 cumara casting/core for texas/wacky

7'0 crucial casting/curado e for crankbaits/jerkbaits

6'10 crucial casting/curado e for spinnerbaits/buzzbaits/topwater

6'8 cumara spinning/sustain 2500 for tubes/dropshotting/light weights

I am having alot of trouble deciding what line to put on each rod. Everywhere i look and everytime i read something it changes my opinion. Last year i had 30lb power pro on my one rod and tied direct to lure and had a great time. This year im gonna do a few tournaments and have baught lure specific rods. Went to buy line today and the store pro messed me all up. He said he puts braid on everything and simply changes the leader for different lures. Is this a good idea? Or should i put specific line on each rod?

I do the "different leaders for different conditions" thing, but if you haven't gone completely that way you might want to stick with mono or fluoro, especially for the crankbait rig.

I'd definitely spool some superline for the spinning setup, though.

If you are going to have technique specific rigs you might want to have technique specific lines. I usually only carry a few rods and I have a MH casting outfit with 12# Trilene which is my spinnerbait, buzzbait, senko, tube, etc rod and then I have another casting rod with 30# PP and I use that for frogs, jigs and heavier worming.

Also take into consideration what kind of cover you will be fishing.

I can't really comment on flourocarbon, I tried it on a spinning rod when it was new and I thought it was too fussy. The stuff on the market is much better I just haven't messed with it.
