Travel rod recommendation

Featured Replies

Hey everyone! I'm heading to Utah for a couple of days in June and can only bring one rod/reel combo. I'm looking to buy a spinning travel rod to go with a Quantum Cabo 40 reel that I already have. I would like something that I can use in freshwater and inshore saltwater. Any suggestions? Oh yeah, I'd like to keep in under $120  ;)

I have a St. Croix Triumph 4 piece that I am really happy with. They sell it in a few lengths/actions.

Cabela's has their XML pack rods on sale for $120.

LL Bean also makes a travel spinning rod for about $90.  I only played with it for about 30 seconds, but it felt ok.

Thanks for the info  ;)

BPS also has a 3pc extreme rods in casting and spinning...they go on sale from time to time for about $70?

They're decent

Thanks SimonSays! I'm sort of leaning towards the XPS from Bass Pro mostly for the price and the reviews seem really good. They have it on sale right now for $69.

2X Finally got tired of worrying about breaking my rods every time I put them in the car, I got a pair of BPS extreme travel rods, one casting, one spinning, and find them to be more than adequate.  They are both sensitive and strong and their warranty is hard to beat for the money.  Just my 2 cents.
