Older Daiwa question.

Recommended Posts

I was doing a little dumpster diving at a yard sale today, and picked up 2 Daiwa ASA1055's for the grand total of $0.50, they ran pretty rough, I figured I could make 1 backup out of 2. I tore them down, cleaned them, and lubed them, they seem very smooth in comparision now. They are very heavy, almost no plastic, but were they a decent reel for their price range in their day?

Off the top of my head I forget what year these reels were circulating (no date on the schematic), probably old enough to be discontinued (no factory parts support).

The reels have no IAR (4 point bail stop), and rear drags with only 3 pads (and small pads at that), small coil bail return spring and according to the schematic i'm looking at no crank or pinion bearings (bushing reel)...

They are very heavy, almost no plastic, but were they a decent reel for their price range in their day?
Who knows you probably got the better deal......

Tight Lines!!!!
