5'6" Medium Fast Cabelas XML Rod, What use?

Featured Replies

I just couldn't resist a 140 dollar rod for 30 bucks.  I wanted the 6'6" mh f but they were sold out so I took the 5'6" medium fast.

What is the best use for this rod?

Right now, I just put a Zebco Omega spincaster with 10# mono on it to give to guest who want to fish but don't really know too much about casting.  It seems to work well in this use with this reel but am I missing the boat here?

Darn little thing will cast a 3/16 oz. lure a country mile.

These little 5'6" rods are the ticket for shore fishing when you have to bust brush. I also love them in the kayak because they don't stick out further than the bow of the boat hitting the bank and limbs when I get in tight spots. They also cast a lure onto a dime...very accurate length.

Have used my 5'6" med fast rods (not Cabela's) for spinnerbaits, twitch topwater baits (chugbugs, Zulu's, etc) and buzzbaits. In a boat or shore bound..

Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
