American Rodsmiths Apex Titanium (trigger/casting)

Featured Replies

This is the split grip style rod that runs about 50 bucks at academy.

Does anyone have an opinion on them?

I have quite a few of them. 6 to be exact. I used to use them all of the time and they are good for the money. I only use 2 at this time though. But the rest are ready backups. Good rod for the money. Mine are all casting.

For 50 bucks they are hard to beat.  I had one that I used for a frog rod.  It was heavy, but had tons of backbone.  I have since moved to a little more expensive rod that is lighter.  What application are you considering this rod for?

Kind of hoping that I could use it for jigs and plastics...I'm wanting the 7 ft. MH model.....you think it would suffice? How's the sensitivity?

The sensitivity is decent.  For a 50 dollar rod I would say it is good.  If you pair it with braid it will be a decent setup.  Avoid the 3/8-1oz model for jigs and plastics.  This rod is broomstick for sure.  This is what I used for frogs and punching.
