Will this work for deep diving crankbaits?

Featured Replies

I have an ugly stick striper rod thats rated from 12-20lb line its 7"6 and medium light action. I have an abu 5500c3 on it and im about to spool it up with 10 or 12lb fluro clear line. Im going to buy a medium heavy setup for jigs, spinnerbaits, and worms and I cant get another setup for a little while and fall is on its way so if I got a deep diving crankbait rod I figure it wont even get used untill next summer.

Are you sure about the ML Power? Seems odd that 12-20 lb line rating would be for a ML. If it is a Med. Power should be fine. ML for deep divers might wear you out.

It should make a good deep cranking rod.  The ugly sticks are usually mod to slow action. (or parabolic, depending on your color  ;) )  As are many/most of the cranking rods.  And it's 7'6" so you should be able to cast it pretty far. (which helps with deep divers to keep them in the strike zone longer)

I guess Striper Rod is the operative word. Flechero builds rods so his opinion is the best answer. I really know little about Striper Rods.
