My earlier post seems to have gotten off topic. I need informed and honest opinions about the Revo Premier and the Revo STX.

I purchased 1 of each which I have to keep as I have submitted rebates but then purchased another one of each at prices I couldn't pass up from a friend. I can only keep an STX or a Premier and in limited used cannot find any major differences outside of weight. Please, only people that have used both respond and give your reasons why you made your choice. And Leo, don't sneak Shimano in there. Time for that another day. Time to hit the water.

As I had stated in the other thread the only difference I could tell is the weight. The STX does have a better drag rating.

As you have it listed here between the STX-HS and the Premier in my eyes it really comes down to:

Do you want a 6.4:1 or a 7.1:1.

If you don't care between the two, I'd get a second STX for the better drag, in my eyes drag > weight.

I think they sacrificed way too much to make the Premier lighter! The difference is not enough to justify choosing it over the STX. It is a weak reel in comparison!!!

I owned a few STX's, I used a premiere for a day.  That was back when they were still selling on the + side of $200.  

I saw no reason to own a premere.  The only advantage was the weight and seriously,  if 2 oz. is going to make a difference during the course of a day I'd suggest going to the gym and working out.

haha I thought this same thing... the difference in weight equates to: you will put out roughly 25# of energy more with the STX over 1000 casts. If thats an issue, there are bigger problems to be debating

I have and stx and a premiere, I prefer the premiere.  Everyone says they don't have as much drag as the stx, I will admit that they are a little weaker.  But I haven't found that to be a disadvantage yet if anything its better for me, I already have a huge problem digging line in when I set the hook, it kind of helps me with a little bit of give.  I do also like the light factor, paired up with my carrot stick i can fish all day without shoulder problems.  They both are great reals, both will do the job.
