I bought a Shimano Solstace 2500fi.After I cast  the bale closes very hard . Is this reel defective? :-[

    If the reel doesn't feel smooth and operate properly then return the reel for refund or replacement...

    Taking it back is easier than toying around with it trying to fix it. I'd take it back.
