Im looking for a couple baits to throw at night and early mornings, I was looking into the likes of an MS Slammer or there like it. What I dont know is do the hooks come with the MS's, if not whats a good size hook for the 7"?  And what other baits would y'all recommend.

They come with hooks, although I am not exactly sure of the brand from the factory.

Owner ST36 and 41 are great trebles for big baits.

Cool, TYVM SB, you recommend any other baits in that style for around the same money, I was looking at the Mini..

They havent been released yet, but the 6" Spro BBZ should be a great smaller wake bait, assuming they release a floater.

The Daiwa DOA is a little more expensive (35-40), but swims well and is a cool design.

Really, in that price range, those are the only two I can think of right now that I would consider buying.

If you can save up and just purchase one bait for a little more money (assuming you want a floating/wake bait) then the Mattlures Hardbass or Hardgill Floaters would be good (50-55).  If you buy a Hardgill from Tackle Warehouse this weekend, you can get it 15% off.  Lots of websites run 15-20% off sales periodically.  You will pay around 43 for them in those sales.

You can also get a 3:16 Baby wake for around 50 shipped.

If you look around on the "for sale" boards, these baits can be bought, lightly used, for considerably less than that.  I have seen the Hardgill as low as $40 NIP and the baby wake for $30 lightly used.

I am by no means an expert on these things, and I am sure I have overlooked a bait or two, but those all come to mind in the 25-50 dollar range.

I'd definitely reccomend that you pick up a 3:16 Baby Wake as well.  It's perfect out of the package with Owner hooks and split rings.  It's a fish catcher as well.  The slammer is a good bait as well, but I prefer the 3:16 offerings when it comes to wakebaits.

I looked at the baby wakes, was also looking at the MS Slammer Mini's and the TruTungsten 4".  But those Baby Wakes  are sweeet.

3:16 Baby wake is a great one for your budget. It is well made and is ready to fish out of the box.

I like the slammers myself, but that is just a personal preference. The hooks and split rings on the slammer are complete junk. Both need to be replaced with Owners.  The slammer displaces a lot more water than the Baby Wake and is effective at night.

Daiwa Dead or Alive is a good swimbait I don't use it as much as the 3:16 or the slammers, but I occasionally will have one tied on. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the three.

The Tru Tungsten 4" is A LOT smaller than people thought it was gonna be.

To me, the thing looks like a little Rattle Trap with joints cut into it.

Anything MS Slammer will catch you fish, good choice.

Good call on getting the baby wake, but if there are fish that large in there, you might want to step up your game and look at the Wake Jr., Hyper Herring, or even the Born Again Armageddon

Those are truely nice baits, heck they're freakn awsome, but thats a little out of my range, springing the $50 for the Baby was more then I thought I'd ever spend, I spent a little over that a few weeks ago at the TW and fill my jig & finesse boxes enough to carry me through the season.

This place is hardly fished and most comes from docks and a couple boats, I was out and saw 1 boat all night, and they were just riding around.

I think the Baby Wake and MS Slammer Mini will wake up some sleepy fish that dont get pressured, or atleast I can only hope.

try a spro 8'' floater , and if you like to run them a few feet down , try the spro slow sink . as soon as i get some tackle money i'm gonna get another (slow sink) , lost mine to a backlash   , but anyhow , the spro's are good baits (8'' swimbait) never tried the tiny ones . btw , talk to Larry (G-BLANKS) about making you a REAL swimbait rod !!! i use both of mine ALL the time ...  

Get the small slammer instead of the mini.

I ordered a couple mini's already, and a TT 4", also the 3:16 Baby Wake.....anybody know what size hooks are on the Mini Slammer?
