Crankbait reel question?

Featured Replies

So im going to buy a curado to put on my gloomis cbr 784.  Ive always used gear ratios in the 5's.  What do you all suggest i should get the E5 or E7.  I am going to be using it for lipless cranks and topwaters also.  I cant decide if i want the slower reel or the faster one as i can always slow down but its harder to speed up if i wanted to.  What do you all use and suggest?

i have the E5 and im done with that gear. im changing it over to 6.2:1.

thats just me though.

I use the E5 for these applications.

I use the E5 and i love it, anytime i fish side by side with someone using an E7 or a citica 200e, i always seem to out fish them, i think the retrieve is perfect, for crankbaits that is. now if you want something for all around, the Shimano Citica I find works great cause of the 6.2:1 gearing is easy enough to slightly slow or slightly speed up. Hope this helps. I have a curado E5, citica 200e, and a calcutta te 100dc on the way, i'll let you know then which i like better in the 5's gearing!!!!

I like a faster gear ratio for topwaters & lipless cranks.  I would go with the E7 for those.  I do like a slower gear ratio for deeper 7+ foot cranks.  For this I use a Revo Winch.

I ended up purchasing the E5 since most of my other reels are 6.4:1 so i figured it be better to get a slower reel as i can always use the others if i please.  Thanks for all the input
