can someone tell me what the deal with yellow magic topwater lures is.  recently used one against my dad and the ole pop-r and OMG!!!  it outfished the pop-r 7:1.  just kept hearing about them and had to try it out

All I can tell you is that it just flat out catches fish and it is the exact same bait as the Don Iovino Splash It.  Worth every penny.

At 16.00 it's a steal. I puckered up whern I did it the first time, but after fishing with it I now own two more.

I use the Yellow Magic and Splash-It, but can get the same action/sound from a Pop-R by filing off the leading edge of the bottom of the face.

It's an awesome popper, another excellent one is the Excalibur Zell Pop which has a similiar profile and action and is a little less expensive.

Yup.  I fondly remember one year that I caught my first bass of the season on this bait.
