Swim Baits?

Featured Replies

I've made the descision to start fishing the swim bait this year.  After seeing and hearing about all the success of them I figure why not give them a shot.  Can anyone tell me where to get them how to rig them and how to fish them?  Thanks in advance for all the help.

Matt, "swimbaits" describes a family of lures made out of different materials, with different characteristics inherent to each group inside the family with different rigging techiques applicabe to each and with different techniques on how to fish them depending upon each group.

To give you a point from where to start and for you to begin knowing the groups and types start here.

Sweet link thanks, man those things can get really pricey.  I've only been able to find the less expensinve rubber kind here in the local stores eg: sassy shad type baits.  I bought some the other day and they look pretty darn fancyand very life like.  Any recomendations on how to rig and work them?  Thanks again

When I started swimbaiting, I started with small baits that I could throw with my current setup (7' MH); 3:16 mighty minnow, Mission Fish, any mattlures bait,  M.S. Slammer, basically any bait around an 1oz.  Then after that I got a swimbait rod/reel and was able to start getting the bigger baits like the hud, BBZ, etc.

I'm going to be starting to throw swimbaits more this year.  I have decided to throw Matt Lure's swimbaits.
