CUS68M vs. SJR783S

Featured Replies

Basicaly i am wondering which rod is better for fishing texas rigged worms and shakeyheads.  The g.loomis SJR783S(or whichever gloomis is appropriate for the job), or the shimano CUS68M.  I want to know the best for the job and not the best for the money.

The absolute best for the job you described, I would say the G Loomis GLX BSR852.  This thing is unreal and can do it all.  As far as the rods you listed, I am obviously partial to G Loomis, so I would say the GLX SJR783S.

I have a CUS68M and it is awesome. I use it for t-rigs, in line spinners, alot of tubes and basically anything lightweight. I love it. Super sensitive, lightweight and you get that awesome shimano wanrranty. To me its a no brainer. Great performance and great warranty.

Shakey heads 1/4 oz and under, no doubt the CUS68M.  T-rigs would depend on the weight you plan to use.  You are comparing a M rod to a MH rod here.  I use the SJR783 GLX as a senko skipping rod most often, but it does a fine job for T-rigged plastics with a 1/4 oz bullet weight.  A 1/8 oz T-rig and 6" worm with no larger than a very sharp 3/0 hook, I'd go with the Cumara.  Both are fine rods though!

ok that shimano is looking good atm, but ill have to keep looking at their stats, any reel suggestions for the job?  i currently have a calais but its a 5.0:1 so it would be right for the job

Well, I would say no because you are talking about spinning rods.  The Calais is a casting reel. :)

There are a number of quality spinning reels available that would be a good match for either rod.  Which one depends on your budget.
