It's not a high dollar rod, but check out the Berkley Tactix. I keep one that I use for river fishing. Great rod for the price ($55-65).

EDIT:  Just read one of your other posts, You'd be a lot happier with the Tactix than an Ugly Stick.  JMO

I would recommend one of Cabelas XML or XMLTi Rig and Jig rods. I have the XML in both the spinning model and the baitcasting model and its a great rod. Very sensitive and normally they go on clearance around this time for as little as $70-80.

There is a spinning rod in the Compre Lineup that is 6'6" and MH and is a two piece. I have this rod but I can't recall the model number, but this is an excellent rod.  It is one of my trunk rods. I reckon going to Shimano's site you can find its specs. Mine usually sports a 2500 symetre.

Ugly stick light, its as durable as an Ugly Stick and much more sensitive with the graphite.

It's a shame to pair a Stradic with a part fiberglass rod, but you can't beat their durability - that minivan might ruin a high end graphite one.

Compre casting 6'6 medium fast... awseome travel rod. put a curado on it and prepare for battle

i will definitely look into all that was mentioned. as far as transporting a 1 pc rod inside a minivan, is there a safe way to do that? i could not find a hard case container to contain a 6ft plus rod. pvc piping perhaps?thanks to all that responded.

Speaking as one who has a minivan, the short answer is absolutely. I lay mine in the middle aisle and insert them from the rear. Even 7' rods should fit. If you have kids, you must tell them to be mindful of the rods on the ground.

My rules is NO ONE leaves their seats until I have had a chance to remove the rods from the van. This eliminates the potential for rod breaking via stepping on them.  ;D

If your worried about your rod in your car or van go buy a sonotube or abs piping. Costs like 20 bucks at home depot and nothing will break your rods

I just bought a 3 piece Browning (a BPS company).  Very happy with it.  7ft MH, Fast Action with the case for a hundred bucks.

I've got a 1 piece XMLTi, and I'm very impressed. Over the winter I found a couple XML 4-piece pack rods. They are a bit heavier, but still seem quite nice. A 2 piece XML on clearance would be a nice complement to your fine reel .

It's funny, to me Stradic CI4 says no compromise on equipment, on the other hand minivan, says practicality

The Damiki from TackleWare house has seen good comments on the budget side and going slightly more exotic the Graphiteleader Bosco has gotten good reviews (but its JDM). Although I haven't seen them new for a while, I'd love to get my hands on a 2-piece Fenwick Techna AV. I'm still kicking myself for not snagging one off the auction site   If you've got the budget, G Loomis also has 2-piece & travel rods.  Cheers!
