WHich trailer should I use?

Featured Replies

I just bought me a couple jigs and some of uncle joshes pork trailers. I also bought some YUM craws which I was going to use as a regular lure but I was reading the board and saw you can use them as trailers. Which ones work better for which type of situations. and can you use craws as a lure?

Pork  :P

Sometimes I rip a soft plastic frog in half and use the legs as a trailer. They have a nice action when the lure sinks.

Most any plastic craw works well for jig trailers. For shorter more compact presentation pinch top half of craw and thread on jig or leave longer for bigger look. regardless of size, I would try to use a super action craw like the Rage Tail or Paca. Rages have great action at both slow and quick movement and paca moves well at med or fast speeds.

Hmm for the Yum Crawbugs, I'd cut them in half, and use them as a trailer. As for fishing it without a jig, I believe their hollow, you can probably rig it with a weighted tube style hook and fish crawl it along the bottom, or t-rig it and peg it with a bullet weight and flip it through cover, although I have never tryed using a soft plastic craw, so Im not going to go on anymore on that.

Also some great trailers I suggest are: Yum Chunk, Netbait Paca Chunk, Zoom Super Chunk, GYCB Hula Grub, and I've also been hearing great things about the Strike King Rage Tail Chunk, can't really say anything about that though yet as I bought a pack but haven't had a chance to fish em yet.

iv used many, dont like the yum chunks, and pork is good, but id still go with a plastic anyday

MY FAVORITE TRAILOR OF ALL TIME- GYCB FAT BABY CRAW black with blue specks....

Close second is the double tail grub by GYCB, works nicely as a trailor as well

I like the way GYCB cast comprared to other trailors....its no comparisoon when fishging from the shore and you need a long cast

how are you supposed to put uncle joshes pork trailers on? I tried putting it straight through the middle and it was too thick and i couldnt get the whole hook through so i cut it off and wasted a trailer without even using it yet.
