Hi uhh, my dad "caught" this fishing reel/rod  when he went fishing with his brother (like more than 10 years ago). he gave it to me( 2 years ago my first baitcasting reel), since he had no idea how to use it.  Ive been using it correctly and all but im just wondering the background history of this reel, since the rod broke. its an abu garcia ambassaduer 5500c3 2 speed. anything helps !

If you haven't, get the reel torn down inspected and properly lubed for peak performance. Especially if it's been dunked!

thanks for the links, although i had to browse around for the exact one i have. Do you a good, cheap all around rod i could use with this reel?

Cheap is a relative term. A Medium Heavy/ Fast in whatever price range your budget allows will probably be suitable for most bass fishing situations if you're limited to one setup.
