Ok, this may be a dumb thing to ask! Would I be able to do any flippin and Pitchin with a spinning setup or are they just for baitcasters? :-/ :-/ :-[ :-[ :-? :-?

Those are just names of the casts. Spinning or Casting rig is irrelevant. You can pitch (which I do a lot when drop shotting) all day long with a spinning rig and flip if you wanted to.

Such things are not written in stone. There are a couple of steps more to do, but you can definitely pitch with a spinning set.

You can flip with a spinning set up too, but given the cover you will most likely face and the line you'll be using, it is far more convenient to use a casting set up.

Truly filpping is not a problem with spinning reel since your not really casting at all,just laying the lure accurately within close proximity.Pitching can be done but I have found only in close quarters because you dont have the spool control at all to make an accurate presentation like a bc reel.It is also very difficult to keep the lure floating a few inches off the surface when pitching like a bc.

With a baitcast you can slow down the speed of the cast or even let it go and speed up when you get good.A spinning reel you just have to get the pitch or cast perfect on the first try since it is going to land judged by how hard you throw it.

edit: This is not a dumb question all! The only dumb question is that which is not asked. I personally do not own any bc at this time.I do know how to use them however. I too am open to any info that someone could provide on pitching with spinning setups. :-/

If your going to be serious about it, treat your skills to a giant step forward and learn how to use a baitcaster.

one of my fav. ways to catch summer fish is pitching a tube bait with spinning gear around docks. great producer.

I do both with my spinning setups with no problems. Could a baitcaster do a better job at pitching? Probably but I just prefer spinning gear.
