What setup for my reel/rod combos??

Featured Replies

Right now I have the following:

Ugly stick 6'6"(m) with abu silver max:  I use this for all my heavier lures (buzzbaits, spinners, cranks)

Pro qualifier on a BPS Tourny edition 6'6" (MH)-  Im not sure what to use this for...  But right now I have it rigged to flip plastics.

Revo STX on St. Croix 6'9" I think (MH)-  I have this setup for my plastic worm rod.

Old Bantam on a 6" rod-  I use this as my jig rod, I know its not ideal, but I am really good a pitchings with this setup.

Last is my spinning setup for tubes...

What would you guys change about my setups?  I dont want to change my jig setup because that one really works out for me....

im not familiar with those rods but i'll tell you how i choose what to use individual rods for:

mod or mod fast action - cranks, treble hook lures

fast action - good all around action for most anything (except cranks)

extra fast action - bottom baits, shakey jig, dropshot

when choosing power i look at lure weight and cover.

I think they are all fast action...

id use the most moderate one for cranks. tie your line to a table leg, tighten the drag and pull back. the rod that bends closest to the middle has the most moderate action.

i'd use the heavier powers for cover, the more sensitive rods for bottom baits.

edit:

reels - fastest retrieve id put on my jig and plastic rods (to pick up slack faster) and spinnerbait rod if you like to burn them. slowest retrieve would go on my crankbait rod.
