florocarbon

Featured Replies

I am going to give Floro a try this year.  Just wondering because it is expensive should I use a monofilament backing on my spinning and casting reels or should I just tie it on.

Thanks,

Jenga

I use el cheapo backing line on all of my reels.

I then put on about 75 yards of whatever good line I'm using.

When spooling up 20+ reels, three or four times every year; the savings add up.

Depends on what Pound test rating kinda line you planning on putting on for what reel.I recently spooled 17# P-line again on one of my baitcasters and to be honest,it would be useless to even put backing on it.I probably only got 60 yards if that on it.

I also spooled up one of my 2000 size reels with fluorocarbon, another example of not really needing backing as the reel itself is already pretty small.I spooled that one up with 6# test.

Im using seguar invizx floro in 8# test.  I have the new curado 207 caster and shimano symetry 2500 for my spinning.  what should I do.

Thanks,

Jenga

I would return it.  Get 12 or 14 pound Invizx and put that on the Curado.  While you are at the store get some 30 lb Power Pro braid for that Symetre.
