How does this reel compare to a citica?  I'm not really talking specs, but ergonomically and fishability.  Never owned any Abus other than the round style casting reels (5501's and 6501's) that I've used mostly in the salt.  Could stand to add another reel to the mix, and was looking at citicas and Bass Pro PQs.

Can anyone confirm that the only difference in the "old" Revo SX and "new" Revo SX is just the new bent handle design? I know the STX has more new features, but I think the only difference in the SX is just the handle...

all that is different is the handle like you said , the SX did not get the dual cast control .

It didnt get dual control, but the magnetic brakes were upgraded for the new model.

can one of you explain what "dual control" is?

Dual control = magnetic brakes + centrifugal brakes

Would this be a good reel for a guy new to bait casting reels and to bass fishing for that matter? It seems like a good price. I just don't want it to be to complicated for me. I also see that they come in two different gear rations. Which would be good if it will be my only casting rod and reel set up for now? Thanks for the advice.

Yeah, definitely a good starter baitcaster reel.  the stx is nice too ... i've used a friends stx and i loved it.  for some reason, the curado just doesn't suit me

Several on here have said last year's SX was finicky due to the mag only braking, so it may not be a good starter reel compared to one with centrifugal brakes.

I was new to bait casting last year and the last-gen stx (same brake as the SX) served me well.

Many of the people who had problem with them might have set their STX/SX's the way they setup their Daiwa/shimanos - the lure falls relatively free on my luna.

IIRC, the manul on my STX states that one has to set the tension knob that the lure falls about a foot when you flick your rod tip. As long as you set the tension accordingly and with about half of the brake on and it casts just as fine as any other reels down to 1/4oz (of me).

i've been debating and i think i'm gonna go with the new SX.  they only have lefty SX's on *** now

have been actually looking at getting one of these, with a sale like this I can't help but pull the trigger  ;D
