  1. Thanks Wayne.
  2. I will be fishing Sandy River Res. for the first time on Monday. Can anyone tell me how the fishing has been lately? Any tips or advice would be appreciated. We usually fish Briery but thought we would give Sandy a try this year. Thanks all.
  3. I went last year and had a blast. I got to meet and talk with Denny Brauer, he is a great guy. I also picked up a JB custom rod and some new jigs. I will be there again this year for sure!
  4. The Occoquan is where I caught mine. I have only fished that area a few times but every time there was at least one snakehead caught. rsb77 a 16 pounder is a monster, WTG. Does anyone know what the record snakehead is for the state? I just wonder how big they will get in the river.
  5. Thanks guys. Yeah, this thing put up a huge fight. It was quite a battle. I hooked it real close to the boat in about a foot or so of water. We used a net at the boat but it ate right through it. The weed bed we were fishing was full of snakeheads. My buddy caught one about 5 min after I did. You could see them rolling everywhere. Good fight but a real bummer when you are trying to bass fish.
  6. Just caught this 14 pounder the other day with a Rage Tail Anaconda.
  7. I use KVD L&L on every rod every trip. I have noticed a difference on every line I have tried it on.
  8. Rage Craw for me and I use it all year long (except when the water is hard). As Big O mentioned, Moaner Hooks are great. In fact I only use Moaner hooks for my soft plastics. If I could only have I type of bait to fish with the rest of my life it would be the craw.
  9. I have a 6'6" mh/f and I like it a lot. The sensitivity is good, especially when fished with braid.
  10. The fishing was tough. The fish were suspended in about 10 feet of water. I got a few on a swim jig with a baby craw trailer. My buddy picked up a 6.6. we worked very hard for the fish we got.
  11. Thanks Wayne.
  12. Hi Briery gang, I am heading to Briery tomorrow for an annual trip I do with some fishing buddies. I was just wondering if any of you have been there lately? Last year I got my PB at Briery (and it was a trophy). Thanks in advance for any info you may give.
  13. Rage Craw all day long!
  14. Good luck out there Red. Let us know how you do. I like the name Big O has for that rig. "Rage Rig" is what I will call it from now on.
  15. Red, I love to keel weight the Space Monkey. I have had good results with swimming it through submerged timber. I just do a slow retrieve and bounce it off of the limbs or stumps and the bass just slam it. I recommend Moaner Hooks.
  16. I use to do this. The way that I stopped was buying nail clippers on a lanyard (just like you are thinking of) and this worked for me. They hang around your neck so you always have them close by. Try it, your teeth will thank you.
  17. I have never used a Curado, so I can't comment on them. I do however have two Revo STXs. I really like them. I have not had problems with backlashing, even in windy conditions. I found my last STX on Ebay for $161.00 that included shipping. I have heard so many good things about the Curado on this site, so it must be a great reel. The reason I went with the Revo is because I fished with A BPS PQ for a while and I got used to the braking system, which is the same as the STX. I am sure you will be happy with either choice.
  18. I agree with this. I just did this with one of my setups and it worked great. I also soaked the line with KVD L&L.
  19. Just to be fair, I see what ww2farmer is saying. I pulled out my 2.5 and the 1.5 today, the 2.5 has a much more detailed and darker scale pattern and my 1.5 has such a light pattern that I can barley make out the scale pattern. That is where my problem lies. These cranks are different from the other SK cranks (that I knew). So for that part I believe farmer to be right. Maybe all the 1.5 are lighter then the 2.5, I don't know. Sorry for any confusion from my end. I still seems to me that I have a 1.5 that does not look as nice as my 2.5. Sorry, I have no way to post up a picture right now. Anyway it does not matter because I will not argue with farmer on his point, he is right. Sorry Hooligan.
  20. I can't seem to find any SK cranks on line that look like the one I have. However I did find this at TW. Notice what it says about the colors. I still think that is a pretty drastic variance in the color scheme. http://www.***.com/Strike_King_KVD_HC_Square_Bill_Silent_Crankbait/descpage-SKKVDHC.html#multiview
  21. I am not claiming to be an expert. I may be wrong here, but here is a picture of the bait from BPS. Number 22 is the bluegill color. This is the bait that I bought at Dick's and it looks nothing like the one on the BPS sight. Mine looks just like the picture that Hooligan posted. Unless I am wrong, the KVD Square billed silent running 1.5 crankbait in bluegill color that I bought appears to not look the same as the one on the BPS website. If I am wrong then I stand corrected. http://www.basspro.com/Strike-King-KVD-Square-Bill-Silent-Crankbaits/product/10209675/-1735446?cmCat=CROSSSELL_THUMBNAIL
  22. I have thrown my 1.5 in a couple of ponds around here and have not had a problem with rust. I will be fishing Aquia on Sunday, I will see if I have a rusting problem after that.
  23. I just went and looked at the BPS website again and the KVD 1.5 and 2.5 do have the stripes. I am pretty sure that the ones I bought are a mistake. I just asked Strike King about it on their Facebook page. We will see what they say.I like Strike King, they are a great company and if the cranks are defective I am sure they will make it right.
  24. Wow, that is funny. I just bought the 2.5 and the 1.5 in bluegill and they both look like that. I didn't even know that it wasn't finished because all of them on the rack looked like that. After I read your post I went to BPS to look at them and sure enough, they for got the scales. I wonder if Strike King even knows. Oh well, I will still fish them. Who knows maybe they will work better.
