  1. Yeah I know what you mean about the ticks, JC, THEY SUCK! I had the same results as you this morning ( minus the ticks). I saw a lot of nice bass cruising the shoreline but no bites. I think it will get good in a couple of weeks ( at least where I was fishing), I am sure it is good somewhere now. Hope you kill 'em on Sat. Later
  2. Oh man, I wish I could go! Hey, can I bring my three year old daughter? HA HA HA HA...... J/K. Go get 'em bro.
  3. I just came back from checking Occoquan reservoir( FountainHead) it looked really muddy and super windy. I am new to the area and have to rent a boat but with the wind I saw it looked like it could be dangerous( with a rental).?? I want to fish this weekend, should I try Burke or Occuquan? Which one would be easier for me to navigate and maybe catch some bass? I have never been to either. :-/ You don't have to give away your honey holes, just want a point in the right direction. Thanks.
  4. Wow! Huge bass! I can't wait to get out fishing this weekend.
  5. I ended up with the BPS PQ. I will try it out on Sat. Thanks for the advice. Since I am just starting out it is going to be trial and error for a while. The reel seems nice. Once I get it dialed in I hope it will work well for me. If anyone has this reel and has any advice on how to set it up ( set brakes, side dial, etc,) I would really appreciate it. Thanks
  6. Thanks for all the input everyone. I ended up with a Premiere spinning rod and a BPS Extreme casting rod. The BPS rod felt really good to me, I hope it works out...
  7. Thanks for all the replies. I am out the door right now to head to BPS. Since it is about an hour drive for me I really wanted a few to people to weigh in on this for me. You all came through again, as usually. Thanks again!
  8. This will be my first baitcasting reel, so I was wondering about these two reels and which would be best for a beginner. The revo sx is on sale at tackle warehouse for 119.00( last years model). I have heard a lot of good things about both of these reels. Any thoughts?
  9. Would this be a good reel for a guy new to bait casting reels and to bass fishing for that matter? It seems like a good price. I just don't want it to be to complicated for me. I also see that they come in two different gear rations. Which would be good if it will be my only casting rod and reel set up for now? Thanks for the advice.
  10. The rubber nets seem really nice. I will be picking one up on Wed. I was looking at some of my treble hook baits and it seems things could go bad really fast try to grab a thrashing fish. Again thanks for all the input.
  11. Steve I see what you are saying. I plan to get some type of a small boat but for now I just want to get on the water. I have a truck with a tow package. I just got to find a place to store a boat also (d**n HOA) > I will get a boat because I know the rentals are a joke. Thanks for the suggestion.
  12. Thanks for the feed back all. Fish Chris, I can only dream of a 10 or 13# LMB! That is awesome! Hopefully someday I will have the skill to hook a lunker like that. I am going to get a net to use on the boat and leave it at home when I bank fish. Thanks again everyone.
  13. I use these also. They work great.
  14. Since I am new to the sport I want to develop good habits. I was wondering what all of your thoughts were on about netting a fish. What is best for the bass? I am all about catch and release. Please weigh in on your preference.
  15. Since we are on the subject and I am a newbie to these fisheries, which one should I check out? I am going to go all day next Saturday. Burke or Fountainhead? I will be checking them both out eventually, but which one has the better bass fishing? Thanks
  16. Burke starts renting April 3rd (weekends only) until memorial day. FountainHead is renting weekends only now and then everyday starting April 1st.
  17. Thanks for the reply A.Do. It is good to know I can get a couple more hours of sleep
  18. Yoga. Also I just saw some guy on WFN that has a "fit for fishing" show, or maybe it is a dvd he is trying to sell.
  19. Hi all, Well, I just moved to the area and just wanted to know what time in the morning I have to show up at the marinas to ensure that I get a rental boat, w/ a trolling motor? The reason I ask is because at a lake I used to fish in California I had to show up at 3:30 A.M. or the boats would be gone.( the lake did not open until 6:00 A.M.) Thanks in advance for any replies. By the way, I hope I posted this in the right spot, if not, sorry.
  20. Most days average about four hours. I have a 2.5 year old daughter to take care of. If I take her with me than I get maybe 1.5 hrs. It will be great when she gets a little older and we can go ALL DAY!
  21. Hi everybody, Thanks to a lot of you, this newbie has his rod and reels picked out, the line for them and a great selection of Senkos ( thanks to some advice from RW that I found in the forum ). I need some help with jig selection. My head is swimming with all the selections out there. Can anyone help me get a baseline to build off of? Maybe just some hints on size, colors and types of trailers that are known producers. I thought about going the route of buying one of the jig and trailer kits at BPS, what to you all think? Thank you all so much.
  22. City Limits. Bass Edge. Nice Fish.
  23. Thanks for the replies. I am now very interested with the BPS carbonlite baitcaster. When I go to BPS I am going to check out this rod with the P.Q. reel on it. I think I will go with the split grip, just so I won't always wonder how they are.
