I sure hope we can do the Expo too. I see what you mean about DT. I went to his FB page and he was calling people names and banning them from his site, it was pretty entertaining. ;D

Fishing trends...drive me crazy!!!
bass are nothing for that size line lol, ive seen guys catch sail fish of of 2lb line. I see what you mean Carrington. I was thinking more about the cover that bass can get into, that is why I would not want to use such light line. That is amazing about that sail fish. I used to crew on a charter boat on Kauai and we would use 80# main line with 400# leader for marlin and sail fish. We always had lighter gear stand up gear on board for customers who wanted it. We never had 2# test line spooled up though, lol.

Fishing trends...drive me crazy!!!
Yeah, the Japanese microjigs are crazy small. In this months Bass Master magazine Kiriyama says that he uses 2 to 3 pound fluro in the pressured Japanese waters. Wow! 2 to 3 pound test for bass. I would never think of using that light of line. That is why he is a pro and I am NOT! :D He does say he won't go below 6# test on American waters.

Fishing trends...drive me crazy!!!
That is so true. I read some where that mono may come full circle. The article said that so many fishermen using are using braid, fluro, ect.. so mono gives the lures a new (old) action that the fish aren't use to seeing. I am not saying I agree, just something I read. Pretty funny though. ;D

Sam, or anyone, do you know if the expo is indoors or outside? I know that some of it is in a building. How much of it is outside? Thanks

NOVA test run
Bigbarge50, I feel your pain on the Burke thing. I have spent a lot of time there with not much to show for it, but I love fishing there. I will be back there as soon as the ice is gone. I wish I could give you some tips on the Burke monsters but I don't have any. LOL. My buddy has caught some nice ones from there and one was a citation. I believe most of them came by way of crank bait. Good luck out there.

Please tell your annual fishing trip story
I am part of the group that goes with Shane to Briery Creek Lake and it is a blast. I look forward to that trip every year. Oh, and yes, you all should have seen Shane's face when we pulled up to the ramp at Briery Creek for the first time! Kids in a candy store!

Winter time sucks
I agree, the hard water sucks! Steveinva, I have tried to find open water here in NoVA but Have had no luck. All of my favorite ponds are solid ice and I checked out Burke a few days ago and it is hard also. :'( :'(

Best fisherman on this site....?
My thought the of what makes the best fisherman is not the amount or size of fish they catch, but how they are as a person. There are a lot of great fishermen on this site for sure. I am going to base my picks on guys who I have personal experience with. They are guys who don't make you feel foolish for being a newbie, who are passionate about the sport, who take the time to answer all the questions (no matter how dumb). Some of these guys took me under their wing when I was new to the area where I live and showed me the local waters and some awesome techniques. These are all around good guys and the best fishermen, IMO. rondef Big O JCrazy4bass Road Warrior Cadman Shane J

rain suit
When I was at Bass Pro the other day I checked out the 100 mph suit and the BPS PQ. I liked the Pro Qualifier because the bibs had a zipper so you can relieve yourself without pulling the bibs down. I noticed that the 100 mph bibs had a zipper also but there is some thin material behind it that may make it hard to utilize without taking the bibs down. This is just what I saw, I have never tried either suit.

can you really learn from a fishing video game?
I have that game. I don't think you can learn much from it but it sure is fun when the water is hard, like it is around here. I agree with Hookemdown, fishing shows and time on the water are better. This site is great also. I have learned so much from all the BR members. Enjoy the game though. It is one of the best fishing games out there. IMO

WFN on Vz FIOS
I used to have WFN included with my Vz FIOS account but then they took it away. I called about a month ago to see if I could purchase it again, they said that I had to buy a package with a bunch of channels I didn't want in order to get it again. I think it was around $26.00 extra a month(please don't quote me on this). I passed on it. To bad because I really liked the channel. I do not recall seeing the In-Fisherman on there very often.

Thinking About Fishing in Virginia This Weekend?
I don't have a boat to work on or a gun to hunt with so I guess it is football for me. Oh yeah and Rapala Pro Bass Fishing on PS3. ;D Although my buddy wants to go Musky fishing at Burke on Sunday, hmmm, guess I will wait and see what the weather does.

Winter bass in VA
SteveinVA, you do not need a pic when trying to get a citation by length, you only need a witness. Very nice fish!

Reel American Heroes Foundation First Annual Fishing Tournament
Ron and I will be at the Dick's Sporting Goods store in Manassas, VA tomorrow Friday the 19th from 3:00pm to 8:00pm. We will be accepting donations for The Reel American Heroes Foundation. Please come on down if you would like to drop off a donation, or just come in and say hi. We would love to meet some fishermen from the area and let you know what the RAHF is all about and what events we have coming up. You may also register as a volunteer with us for the upcoming tournament in May. If you can't make it on Friday just go to the RAHF website and find all the information that you need about the foundation. Hope to see some of you tomorrow. Thanks for all of your support.
