I'm just trying to learn to pitch, and having backlash problems using my existing reels and rods. (Older Curado's, older Citica, old Abu 5501C).

Can anybody recommend a good reel/rod combo for easy pitching? I want to throw plastic craws about 30 - 40 feet into weeds?

How long a rod, what kind of action, etc. Does the reel need to have a special spool, braking system, etc. ?

Or maybe I just need more practice???

I would get a Curado 200e7, Powell Max 705c, and 50# PowerPro.

More practise , the reels you've got should do the job. The longer the rod the better with a fast/xtr fast action . JMHO

My main pitching rod is a G. Loomis Mossyback Heavy power fast action 7'1" with a Curado 201D, 65# power pro braid.

I use a Powell 705C paired with a Revo STX HS and spooled with 50lb FireLine Braid. PERFECT IMO

I think your problem may be your technique..If  your getting overruns all the time. There are a few good vid's on youtube re: pitching and flipping, you can search either one..

No special equipment needed.
