catalyst pt baitcaster...

Featured Replies

just picked one up at basspro for 70 bucks! i was turned off of baitcasters after a bad go with a blackmax. i was then told i needed to spend a little more to get quality and i would have a better time. well i went in to buy another spinning reel and walked out with this. anyone use one? i just got it spooled up but have not cast it yet.

I have one of them and it compares well with any bait casting rod that I have.  I thing the size fits well in the hand, it seems to handle a variety of lines, and for whatever reasons, it just seems to backlash less than others I have used.  I am in the process of switching all my reels over to Quantums and have found them to hold up very well.

At $70 that's a good deal! I have one, it's a good reel. I know one site reviewed them and said the palming side bulged a little much where the ACS control was but I haven't found this to be an issue.
