funny you should ask. i wanted the same thing bc i broke my other pond rod. i dont spend much on pond rods but i dont go ultra cheap either. i went to wal-mart (something i dont do often) and found a reel from abu garcia called the cardinal (spinning rod) for 35bucks (the smallest reel garcia had there) with 5 ball bearings. i then saw a matching rod for 35 bucks still a garcia cardinal in medium light action... i cant tell you for 70bucks how pleased i am with the rod and the reel. she tosses weightless worms with ultimate ease. i use 6lb yozuri hybrid on it. it is a medium light action so setting a hook in a pretty large bass will take an extra oomph in your swing set but for those picky fish it works great. i use it for all small baits and weightless plastics.

if you just want to bass fish with it then get a medium in 6'6" not a medium light. mine is an all purpose rod.

Bass Pro Shop will have their Micro Lite Elite spinning for 39.94. I almost bought it for Valentine's day but didn't. Well I will this time! The reel seemed very smooth and post to be 8 bearings. The pole is a one piece. I think I was looking at the 4'10 or something like that.

I have the same reel as rehed, cardinal 101 I believe $35 at wal-mart and I have been very happy with it

i have a 750 size shimano sedona for sale in the flea market...
