i'm planning to buy 3-5 inches paddletail swimbait and i am wondering if it will go good with mh xf rod or should i get hvy rod or swimbait rod

I have yet to do so, but I plan to use my Dobyns 735 for this application. I may be in the minority on this, but I feel that a true swimbait rod would be overkill for 3-5 inch paddletails. I would think that most heavy action rods could handle the task.

You don't need a swimbait rod for those!!! Any mh/h power,  f/xf action will do. I would get a longer rod 7' or above

this is the rod i use for this application and it's perfect. favorite rod. also good for texas rigs, shakey heads and even crank baits.
