switch spool on new reel?

Featured Replies

Is it possible to switch a spool on my new spidercast tarantula 2200 reel? I looked at the 2300 and the spool won't fit on my reel due to larger sizes of certain parts. I was wondering if i would be able to get a different spool from elsewhere. My current spool holds 100 yards of 6lb test (i use 8 with the same diameter as the 6 specified on the spool). I'd like to be able to spool up a bunch more line than 100 yards. Would it have to have the same width (where the line is spooled on) as my current spool so the reel doesn't over run on the top or bottom, or can it be wider? I'd think i'd need to keep the same width where the line sits but just have it deeper to hold more line. Am i wrong?
