How much line does your spinning reel hold?
I don't know what kind of reel sizes you guys use for bass fishing, but most of mine take 10-12 mono. Shimano mind you. I prefer mono on my spinning and braid on my casting.

How much line does your spinning reel hold?
get something 100 or so yards of 12 lb. That's all i use for bassin. Mono btw, braid sucks on spinning reels. I don't care to have a huge spool because of the term of fishing the line underneath gets dinged and dented and sucks. So the less line the better. If you buy a 220yd spool of 12lb you'll get two changes out of it.

To fish there, no. To fish at Lake saltonstall you need a permit though because it's a water source.

I know a few good spots down here. Try north farms reservoir in wallingford. Awesome place, especially if you have a canoe. EVERYTHING is in there. Eels, carp, bass, i think catfish. You name it lol.

Pinnacle Platinum Plus frame screws need replacing
Hello. From maintaining my reel (because water gets in it a lot) i have managed to round out the inside of the screws over time because the screw drivers i use are significantly harder than the screw material. I did not strip them, but the screws aren't holding the screwdriver anymore. Is there anyway i can get pinnacle to send me three more screws? Would they do that?

My collection
Just make a photobucket.com account and upload your pictures there. then you just take the link and put it in your post. it's also nice because if you go to someone elses house you can access it (photobucket) over the internet and show them.

Fall fishing just isn't happening for me...
I usually start off with topwater. I'll throw a frog or mouse for a while into the areas the pads normally are. if nothing hits i'll switch to a toad and try it as a buzz on the top or as a swim everywhere. If that doesn't work i switch to spinnerbaits, trying different blades and colors. If those don't work i'll switch back to a topwater like a buzz bait or something. Still then if that doesn't work i'll switch to a rapala or similar mid water, or a lipless crank. Then i'll just throw a bunch of plastics. That's pretty much my box lol.

Fall fishing just isn't happening for me...
Hey guys. I'm just not doing well this fall. I normally don't fish in the fall, but i wanted to try it this year. I go to this pond which is probably 70 yards or so long, and maybe 50 yards wide. Just guessing. It's probably 12 feet deep. Lots of largemouth in it. The lillypads are starting to die off and the water level dropped over a foot since a few months ago. Some cat tails are no longer in the water. It's a private pond so i know people haven't taken any fish out, if anything, more were put in. What should i use for lures? The temp has been around 60 during the day here, it's full sunshine at the pond most of the day. I don't even really see any sunfish on the side like normal. Should i just give up on the spot for the year, or keep trying? Topwater? Spinnerbaits? Help!

Keep water off the line before it hits the reel?
the reel is a walmart reel, it's like 40$. I've never had that issue with my baitcasters either but i was more so asking for him. I think the water gets in through where the spool meets the frame because theres a gap there. I kid you not, at least half a tablespoon of water came out of the side cover. and the oil in the bearings got washed out, it looks like liquid graphite. The grease is nasty and has water on it, but obviously grease is mostly inpenetrable by water. I'm going to do a teardown and regrease and reoil everything, i just didn't know if there was a way to prevent this next time. My accurist gets soaked, but not internally, and i've looked at the grease and oil inside of it and it's untouched.

Keep water off the line before it hits the reel?
The water got into the internals (gears and everything), behind the brakes, on the spool shaft and pretty much if he threw it into the pond it wouldnt have made any difference lol.

Keep water off the line before it hits the reel?
Hey guys, my buddy and i went out fishing yesterday. He has a pinnacle platinum plus. Well, he always hands his reels off to me to clean and service and when we got home he handed it to me. Today i opened the side plate and pulled the spool and a ton of water literally came pouring out from behind the brakes. The spool is wet and the grease/oil is wet and black. I swear years ago i saw someone tie a rag to their rod or something to keep water off the line. He uses 12lb mono if it makes the difference. but i want to try and figure out a way to keep the water off the line which in turn will keep water out of the reel.

Bass fishing in the fall?
Hey guys, i fish a river that has perch, bass and pickerel in it. I also fish another area which is a large closed off man made pond with 2-6lbers in it. The river is slow moving, if it moves at all. It's a reservoir run off at the end of a dam, but it's long and holds fish that fall in. The other area has lilly pads and cat tails all along it. What would be good to use when the air temperature (don't know water temperature) is around 60. I'll list what i have. -Toads & topwater frogs -Plastic worms -Spinner baits of all colors and blades -buzz baits -rapalas, jitterbugs, spooks, cranks (lip and lipless) -a few poppers -some spinners -dardevles and phoebes

Pinnacle Platinum Plus & my buddy
Hahahaha. On a brighter note, what do you guys recommend next for him when this reel ends up melting together. I was thinking a caenan or something, maybe a daiwa?

Which reel out of this list?
In my box (which i'm looking at now) i have the following: -Plastics, from worms to toads, and a topwater basspro mouse -Normal Size jitterbugs -Slightly heavy spinners -Light to heavy spinner baits -A few buzzbaits, small to 4 inch long -rapalas, cranks and spooks -i sometimes throw worms, for sunnies :-) So, my accurist i can cast my whole box plus some lighter stuff. I only freespool when flipping, other than that i have the minimum amount of weights on and a slightly light spool tension. So, is the curado going to be able to handle that? I know shimano is top quality.

Which reel out of this list?
Is there a reel in the 150 price range that's better than the curado?
-
Which reel out of this list?
So the STX is a higher quality reel than the curado? I never thought i'd hear that! What's the major differences in quality?
-
Which reel out of this list?
I can find the STX for 180 and the curado for 144, both in left hand retrieve, both 2010 models. I won't be getting it until christmas, so i'm looking at my options now.
