Casting issue

Featured Replies

I recently spooled one of my baitcasters with 12 lb P-Line CCX.  I really like the line, but I'm having issues when casting.  It seems that when I apply thumb pressure on the spool, it really slows down and I'm losing quite a bit of distance.  This only happens when the line is dry.  Once the line is wet, it casts fine.  Now this is ok when using lures that are sub-surface, but I was throwing a Ribbit last night and the line never really touches the water.  Any suggestions?

So don't apply thumb pressure on the spool. Not sure what u mean by the line never touches the water. If anything, thats a good thing for top water. What kinda reel you usin? My revo stx has the adjustable mag breaks that helps slow the bait down towards the end of each cast. So I don't have to use my thumb as much throwin light rigs.  I throw my ribbits on weightless hooks so it's a pretty darn light rig, and i'm turning those mag breaks almost completely on.

KVD Line & Lure Conditioner resolves issues with CXX.  I can't fish CXX without it.

Lick your thumb.   ;)

I fish various sizes of CXX and I haven't experienced what you are talking about.  Francho gave a good solution...get some line and lure.  It should make the line slip easier under your thumb.
