Daiwa Zillion BC, Weights under 3/8oz

Featured Replies

So how does the Zillion actually handle weight under 3/8oz? Specifically like a 1/4oz swim jig?

Have a chance to pick up a new one for fairly cheap and am wondering if it will be able to handle it.

Thanks, :(

I gotta stock Zillion on a 7'3" heavy fast Vendetta. No trouble throwin' a 1/4 oz. swim jig here.  I mainly use mine for froggin'. but there's no telling what I'll tie on.  Since I bank fish it's all I carry sometimes.  I did upgrade the drag on mine.  Mo' betta' now.  Don't be scared! Feed the monkey!

Go for it, it'll be fine (and even under 1/4oz). Air resistance of the lure will be more problematic than weight.

yup this is right.... it will cast down fairly low but like he said wind resistance will be more an issue then weight.

Though I don't have one myself, I throw a bunch of light stuff (1/5-1/8oz) with a bunch of different reels (Curado E, Citica E, Sol, Calcutta 101B, etc.)  and in my opinion, the rod has a greater function on the ability to cast light stuff.

You won't have any problems.  The Zillion will handle that bait very well.

Same. For such a stiff rod, it's extremely versitile. I throw swimbaits, frogs, jigs, plastics, and other stuff with it. I also flip with it. Great rod, especially with a Daiwa on it :(
