Carolina Rig Question

Featured Replies

Has anyone ever heard of using live small crappie minnows on a c-rig? I over heard a man talking today and he says this works well?

Has anyone ever tried this? If so, results? I'm looking for a few new techniques.

No offense, however I guess it would probably work if you are fishing for crappie's.

I would think that a shiner would work better for bass, however I don't ever fish with live bait so I'm not sure.  I just would think that it would take a bigger meal and a bigger minnow to keep the pan fish off of it is all.

Take care,

Steve

I've done it. I didnt fish it like a c=rig, I was anchored. We were crappie fishing. I took a 5" crappie and put it on my c=rig and cast it along side a weed bed, caught a 5 3/4 lb bass on it.

I've put live crawdads on a c=rig but didnt get bit.

For several years I fished catfish using small live minnows on a c-rig. Though there are good size bass in this lake, in all those years I never hooked a bass with this rig.

If you are on the bass it works, but they won't draw them. One of the biggest banes for crappie fishermen is the broken rods caused by bass.
