What are the differences between Gen.1 and Gen.2 Dobyns rods and is there an easy way to tell which is which?

There is a major difference, everything from the blank, guides, and so on... The easiest way to tell the difference is just checking on Tackle Warehouse, all the ones listed and shown there are Gen 2. The Gen 1 rods from above the reel seat up to the bottom guide has a carbon fiber look to it.

Gen2:

I have a Gen 1 807 mag..swimbait rod. JFYI, I love it..light, sensitive, and has great action. Although it's made for heavy baits, the feel is great...just thought I'd throw that out in case you were considering a Gen 1..

If you can find a good deal on a 1st gen, don't pass it up. It is a great rod and I love it. I think they look better than the newer rods.
