Lamiglas Excel

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I am looking for a good t-rig/ senko rod and i saw this rod on sale. I was wondering if the 704c or 705c would be the better rod to complete the task. Please only comment if you have used the product (penguin/ bass cleary what ever his name is don't post...)

Thanks in advance!

ive handled the excel a few time its a very nice rod, the veraitas is awsome, i got mine when it cam out and have fished with it for 3 trips (7.3mh) and the sensitivity and the action is right on the money. but i dont think you could go wrong with either.  or just get both  ;D

I bought an Excel 705 recently based on the good reports here and a reasonably good review on TackleTour.  While none of the reports here nor the TackleTour review dealt specifically with the 705,  I must say I'm disappointed in the power of the rod.  It's rated for 1/4 to 1 ounce, but IMHO there is no way this rod will handle much over 1/2 ounce baits...it just doesn't have the backbone to handle more weight.

On a more positive note, it is fairly light and pretty sensitive, especially given the price point, and it is made in the USA, if that is a consideration for you.  Even the full retail price seems fair for what you get.

I'd go with the verita or the excel. I can't speak for the verita except for other reports about it being a step above the vendetta which has proven itself. With that said, the excels are sensitive, and faily light. I would say they are probably on the low side of their power ratings sokeep that in mind when ordering. I love the 3 excels I have, and consider them the best rod at their price point at regular price.

Well darn haha. What is yalls opinions on rods for $100-120 for that technique.

Just get the Excel at normal price!  I have the 704C and although it is recommended for t-rigs I mainly use it for spinnerbaits.  For t-rigs and senkos I use the 734c.  For me it is perfect for these applications.
