Powell Square Bill Rod

Does anyone have any info on this rod?  I am considering it due to the sale at TW.  My main question is weather it would double for any other techniques?  Spinnerbaits mainly.  I fish heavy timber quite often and would like something a bit heavier than what I have for throwing shallow cranks and spinnerbaits into the timber.  Any help is much appreciated.

I have that rod, paired with a Fuego. I use the rod for senko's, spinnerbaits, crankbaits and just about whatever I'm fishing at the time. I personally don't get too hung up on these uber-specific labels that get put onto gear, rods in particular.

The rod has a lot of backbone, but a soft tip. The length is good for accurate casts. The rod balances well and is surprisingly lightweight. Had I not just bought a Dobyns 684c I'd be all over this deal ;)

The answer is yes, it will work great. I have 16 Powell rods and I can tell you that the 5 power crank bait rods are very versatile. Throw just about any reaction bait you like, buzz baits, spinner baits, crank baits, top waters(not so much the smaller ones), rip baits. I think you will find it ot be a great rod for alot of different baits.

TT recently posted a review on this rod: http://www.tackletour.com/reviewsquarebill.html

Why do all their reviews sound the same?

They are just like anybody else , they have opinions and their opinion doesn't swing any more weight with me than anybody else would , as a matter of fact I put more creedance on the fella's here on BR than them.

Thats how I feel to. They may have given a bad review here or there, but the ones Ive read all seem about the same. Id like to hear en say, while its a decent rod, I really dont like it for this purpose.(not referring to anything in particular, just in general).
