Daiwa Spool Bearing Issue

Featured Replies

Here's a question for people who frequently swap bearings - what do you do if the spool pin is being stubborn and refuses to budge? I've swapped bearings in the past without a hitch with a pair of smooth needlenose pliers, but this spool has a spool pin that I just can't seem to budge.

Anyone have any suggestions for how I can overcome this problem?

Edit: I managed to get the pin out without any damage to the spool. Now the problem is getting the pin back in... I've oiled it up so I don't think it's a lack of oil.

Does daiwa use a tapered pin like abu ?

OR you mushroomed the ends of the pin and it won't start in the hole.

You may need a jewler's loupe to see these things. I know I do.

Never mind, it just took a lot more time than I expected, but I managed to get the pin back in little by little.

Nothing personal, but this is exactly the reason I won't buy reels that have been tinkered with. Some things are best left to the folks who do it for a living.

Make yourself a set of these and you will never have to worry about spool pin issues again.

They can be bought at any Sears.

I have made a few for some members on here, they seem to work really well.
