I have been looking at the carrot stick gold, med/fast 6'6", any opinions on this rod? I can get one for around $100-120, is there something better for that money?

The Abu Veritas are comparable, both nano fiber rods with good guides. Depends on whether you prefer a white or orange stick...I would say right now the Abu rods are the more popular choice but both are good rods.

If it's 2011 Gold for $100-120 that's a great deal. Most places have been clearancing 2010 Golds and Pro's around that price for this year's 3 price points. If you like (and can get) micro guides at this price, I'd go for it.

If you haven't fished a Carrot, they are a little stiffer. So a medium fast may feel like a MH graphite rod to you. I use:

6'6 MH fast for single hook (buzz/spinner baits)

6'9 M parabolic for treble hooks

7'6 H fast for flipping/pitching
