What to do with rods that don't use anymore

Featured Replies

I have a few rods that I just don't use anymore. They probably wouldn't be worth selling because of the cost of shipping. I don't want to just throw them out. But they have to go, I just don't have the room for them right now. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do with them? Thanks

Maybe you could donate them to a local Cub/Boy Scout pack or other organization that takes kids fishing.

any idea on how to get in contact with any of these organizations

There are also deployed soldiers that have the occasional opportunity to fish.  You could send them to them.  I don't know exactly how to tell you to do that but I know they do take donations of fishing tackle.

Try your local bass clubs.

I donate my older gear that's not worth selling to my local state park office.  They hold teaching seminars on the fundamentals of fishing to kids.

Post on Craig's List Free and be vigilant who you give them to. OR hould be a local Boy Scout post in your area as well.  Bet they would pick up at your home. Contact nearest elementary school in your area.  Scouts often meet there.

Near me, the YMCA has summer camps for kids and they do take them fishing. You could contact a local YMCA.

Whets

I agree with Red.

I give them to my neighbor's or cousins kids.  If the kid get's into it AWESOME, if fishing isn't for them hopefully my gesture made an impression.

Sell them on Ebay or this forum's flea market.

I either try to sell the stuff if it's worth selling, or give it away to friends or their kids.

Why is everybody saying boy's?

How about girl scout's, I've got 5 daughters that love to fish also.
