Dobyns 703 vs. 704

Featured Replies

I am looking to replace my current worm/jig rods and was looking at the Dobyns DX703c and 704. I fish alot of 3/16-1/2 bullets and 3/8-1/2 ounce jigs. Would I be screwing myself into going with the 704 over the 703. How does the 704 fish the lighter baits? I fish moderate cover and normally throw 12lb cx on Trigs and 15lb Flouro on jigs. Also, how will the rod balance out with a STX?

I fish similar style and went with a 734. It handles this size bait well and having the extra power is good to have even in moderate cover.

Go with the 4 power for what you described. I would also recommend the 734C over the 704C to move more line and have better control over the bait.
