Rod for Shimano Curado 201E7

Featured Replies

Hey guys just picked up a new reel and was wondering what would be the best rod to pair with this? I appreciate the input. I was looking at maybe a Falcon Bucoo 7' MH. I have all Medium action rods and was maybe looking at getting a heavier grade rod to diversify a little bit. Also not wanting to spend an arm and a leg. Maybe even those Cabela's prodigy that are on sale right now. Which would you guys go with??

For worms and jigs: Cumara, Avid, Cara t7, the list goes on. What will it be used for?

SHIMANO Crucial. It will look killer with the Curado, and preform awesome.

I would suggest the Powell Max or Dobyns Savvy.

I had the Powell Max 683C with a Curado 201E7 and it balanced really well.  It was a great combo for jigs, senkos and spinnerbaits.

Never tried a Dobyns, but have heard really good things about the rods and the company in general.

The Powell 683C is a great rod for the money. I haven't used a Dobyns Savy but have also heard good things.

I have an 200E5 sitting on a Crucial, great combo there!

Crankbait machine. Wish they made that one in lefty...

HAhah, funny you mentioned that.  I caught my first bass of the new year today on my Crucial/Curado combo using a Rapala slashbait.  She was about 4 lb.

Shimano makes great rods, a lot of people do not pay attention or seem not to.  Shimano tapers from the handle down with some magic ratio.  A lot of companies have "stepped down," at the cork closet to the tip of the rod.  Creates another "bend point," if you will.  The creates less backbone for the hook sets and Shimano rods can have a faster tip for lure action.  Just from what I have seen in the past.

I agree, their rods are VERY powerful. I wish I could circumsize my Cumaras though.
