what would you do?

Featured Replies

i plan to fish this coming saturday and or sunday.  the weather as of now is calling for mostly sunny, 65, South winds at 15 mph.  recently i have been catching fish on jigs and t-rigs.  but nothing over 2lbs.  so what can i do to increase my chances of catching a better quality fish?  bigger baits? smaller baits?  or different baits, i really havent even thrown anything other than jigs and t-rigs...mostly jigs tho.  and like i said they have been producing fish, but i would like to try to target bigger fish this weekend.  i will be fishing gold course ponds with alot of sticks and stuff lying on the bottom...water is semi clear and i can get to about 1-12 feet deep in some spots.  most visible cover is in shallow water...under 4 feet.

any help is much appreciated

thanks

Cliff

With that kind of weather I would say to keep using what you have been. Jigs with trailers are always big fish catchers. If you are using something the size of a Baby Brush Hog maybe go to a reg. Brush Hog...

BTW Good Luck ;)

its somewhat obvious, but if you want a chance at bigger fish, and the chance to possibly learn a new bait, throw a swimbait

Right now, as I have said before, I would sell my teeth to get a 2 lb-er.  Iced up and frozen over in Michigan, I remain very envious of my Southern Brothers.  Get'r Done!

If you're catching why change?  ;)

This is pre-spawn so you're probably catching male bass & the females will be close by; just keep chunking & reeling

I have to agree with Catt.If it's working don't change.

I have to agree with the others, if you're catching fish why change? You are fishing with a jig, and that's usually a big fish bait, i'd say be patient and keep on doing what you are doing.

P.S. being stuck here in Michigan, I might sell my soul for a few two pounders.LOL

Do you have any idea what the water temp is. Consider, throwing a 1/2 oz spinnerbait with some form of a transluscent skirt on the windy bank in the afternoon.
