Good reel?  on clearance for 80 bucks with shipping.

I'm guessing since it is on clearance it is the "old" gold model.  I picked one of them up on clearance myself and while I've only used it once so far it seems like a nice reel.

Depending on what size you're looking for, you may find it a bit cheaper if you shop around. BPS still has some in the 35 size for $70.

i have 2 of the gold ones (1 30 and 1 35), and they are very nice reels, very smooth, light, good drags...a little on the ugly side, but i got over that quickly.

i handled the new version at scheels today and they are nice, i do NOT like the new handle knob, but other wise they are nice, but they are the same as the older gold model with a different handle and spool design.

for 80 bucks they will be pretty hard to beat IMO

i'm not a huge fan of the eva knobs on any reels either.

The new one looks and feels bad , but the eva knob feels like a little sanding block in my hand. When/if I can find a replacement, it'll be gone. >
