Fenwick Elite Tech Bass Jerkin Stick

Featured Replies

just curious if anyone has experience with this rod, i am looking for a spinning rod to throw jerkbaits and shallow/medium cranks with. i prefer a mod fast to moderate action for this purpose, and while its listed as a fast action, it feels almost mod. fast to me. i dont want a baitcaster for this purpose, mainly because it will be used alot at night and i just dont really like baitcasters (i know, blaspemy, right?)

anyways, since it is out of production i havent been able to find any reviews online, so figured id ask here.

will be paired with a Pflueger Arbor 7430, with sufix 832 10lb test (spare spool with yo-zuri ultra soft, probably 6lb)

thanks in advance for any help!

I've used one.  Not bad.  I agree they have a more moderate action.

IMO, though, unless you can get one at a VERY deep discount, then I would recommend a Fenwick HMG.

The Elite Tech retailed at $200.  I don't think it's worth that.  I've seen them on clearance locally for $79 which would be a good deal.

The HMG GS 66M-MF retails for $99 but you can find it for less.  It's a 6'6" spinning rod with a medium fast action.  Nice grips and alconite guides.   I don't think the Elite Tech is worth much more than the HMG.

the one i found locally is 130, about 20 more than a 7' HMG, none of the places around me have a comprable HMG in stock, but im making a trip to cabelas and BPS on sunday so hopefully one of them will have it.

there are a few other rods im looking at (again, nobody around me has them in stock ><)

I think $130 is high for that rod.  Some Elite Techs were good rods.  But that particular one didn't strike me as any better than what I had.   For $130 I'd pass.

The HMG has a lifetime warranty.  If you can't find one in stock at your store, I'd consider ordering one.
