I just purchased a new quantum baitcaster and plan on using it for flippin it has a flippin switch on side but my question is how do you set up the braking system internal and external  seems like i cant get much distance from it 

I'm not familiar with the reel, but how much distance do you actually need?  Flippin is a short line technique, you're usually using a fixed length of line about a rod length or two from the tip.  You're not trying to toss the lure out sixty yards.
